One major oversight...

If a major enemy came on the "radar" why didn't or couldn't Superman turn up? Why didn't he hear about Supergirl given that she made a few appearances in public? Wouldn't he try to offer assistance to a relative and a fellow Kryptonian?

I liked this film and thought Kara did a great job retrieving the energy sphere ;) , but I would have thought the film should have covered a major character story element beyond a few cursory references.

Superman had gone to a different galaxy.

When Selena brings that weird ball thingy near her car's radio, it switches on and you over hear that "The president has confirmed that Superman is on a special seeking mission, to a galaxy that is estimated to be hundreds of trillions of light years away"

Superman was supposed to be in this movie but Christopher Reeve opted out at the last moment forcing a rewrite.

I often toyed with the idea of Supergirl appearing when Superman went off to become human. Needed someone to hold the fort.
