I thought those titles looked pretty damn good, but a million bucks??

they looked really great and a lot of time must have gone into them and filming it
but $1 million for just the titles back then would have been a huge amount
the movie itself cost £35 million which was big back the but $1 million could have gone to good use elsewhere in the movie
Look at the intricate flashes of light on the silver. Look at the flawless, seamless way the credits are styled. The background. All of that cost something. Film costs something too, and they probably filmed for quite a bit to get it JUST RIGHT. All in all, a million dollars for such extravagant titles isn't so surprising.
