As Debated as This Movie Has Been the Past 25 Yrs...
The score for this movie was epic. It should be used again if they decide to make another Supergirl movie.

shareYES! Jerry Goldsmiths score is arguably better than that of John Williams. Many people, even those anti-Supergirl, think so! It is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written not just for film, but in general.
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.
DEFINITELY AGREE!!!
I love the score by Goldsmith, so charming and heroic...I actually have the entire unabridged soundtrack (MP3) on my system, listen to it a lot when sketching or inking pages (I draw comics for a living), it's very inspirational stuff, LOL!

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
I don't recall the theme, so I'll have to check out the dvd again. . . but I definitely don't recall it being as beautiful or epic as the John Williams Superman theme. And I don't think this movie has been debated THAT much. . . most people agree it was a bomb!
shareSince, I was actually taught the value of manners, no matter where I conduct myself. Secondly, I have never stated on this forum or anywhere else that the Supergirl theme was as Epic as "insert other movie title here" It does, however have epic tones. It's great. It fits the character. Secondly, there is no doubt that while the overall story had promise, the way it was executed was crap, but its merit is in fact debated; mostly because of the theme and the beautiful Helen Slater.

Sorry you thought I was rude simply because I disagreed with you.
shareTo engle james, this film is a hot target for all sorts of debate. You might not know it because you think it is a bomb, so thusly you don't bother putting any time into mostly. That's fine. Some of us happen to really enjoy it. To each his own.
When will you ever learn, this feeling is all you can discern?
Hey, just because a movie was a bomb doesn't mean it wasn't good, or that it didn't have fans. And when I say it was a bomb, that's not my opinion- that's a fact that is not argued by anyone. In terms of critics and box office, Supergirl WAS a bomb. It didn't even break even at the box office and was killed by critics. The fact that it never even produced a sequel is further evidence that it was a bomb. However, that doesn't mean it was a bad movie, neccesarily, as many movies don't always perform up to expectation at the box office. Dune, directed by David Lynch, is a perfect example of this. It lost money, critics hated it, and yet it has many devoted fans, enough that it was given a deluxe box set edition, much like Supergirl got years ago. Glad you like the movie, really! But I don't think saying the movie was a bomb can be debated.

WHAT?!!!!
Opening credits background music with cat-screech synthetic violin sounds accompanying many of the names of the credits?
That was horrible on oh so many levels.
That those same cat-screeches continued to come up again and again and again throughout the movie is the biggest thing that I disliked about this movie.
Not the only thing, just the biggest thing.
Check out the main title music on the DVD.... it is NOT that same cat-screech music, but a slightly altered rendition of the main theme for the Superman movies, which not only made at least that menu screen so tremendously better than the rest of the movie, but, also means that the producers of the DVD happened to agree with you much less so than with me.
I was referring to the theme not the space torpedo sound effect that was under the theme. The THEME could be reused, but you are rated, I hated that sound effect.

Its good that its still debated after all these years. I hope one day they give us another Supergirl movie of not a series. Laura Vandervoort was good as Supergirl on Smallville.
shareHi Iferrigon. I don't know if you've heard the news but I. The fall there will be a Supergirl series. The development looks promising so far. In it Supergirl is an adult, which is an interesting turn that I looking forward to seeing play out.
shareIt's even funnier because growing up I always thought she was an adult, as in about 25 or so because Helen was lit and made up so well and her build and stamina. She looked unearthly. It was wonderful. Anyway, yeah, I thought Midvale was a college and she was at that age.
shareAgree, the rest of the film was messy but not terrible either.
