Not impressed...
...with the news of Helen guest starring on the new show. I don't know what some people think. It was certainly news when Helen came out for Smallville almost 8 years ago. At that time she wasn't as active as she's been. Guest starred on a show here and there but aside from that and her notable (and fabulous) supporting role in "Seeing Other People" she was dormant for a while. Even that was a let down because there was either a serious lack of good direction, or she simply showed up, took the check, and worked for a few days at a time before selling us some publicity to pump her long awaited return to the DC universe. Mind you, this is coming from someone who loves every moment of Supergirl, and has followed Helen profusely since her super debut.
It is common to see this type of "event" take place. I feel, however, it's quite redundant and even laughable. From Chris Reeve making his first appearance on Smallville, Margot Kidder, Helen, and many others soon followed, and that was one thing, but I really hoped with a new show solely dedicated to Supergirl, that some predictable choice to cast Helen in a cameo guest star role would not come to pass. It's just that, predictable and, quite frankly, dreadful.
I don't know what they have in mind, and who can say how it will all go down? But with how skeptical I am about the new show as it is, I am even more brought down by the tireless PR stunts we see day in and day out. Trend setters and trailblazers making appearances in reboots and send ups. Here was Smallville, and then George Takei in Heroes and whatnot. Take Mr. Takei and Mark Hamill in that sitcom a few years back about an alien family?
I'm just not liking any of this. Certainly not what I had in mind 10 years ago when I wanted so much for Helen to say something positive in regards to her feature debut, It doesn't help that moronic bloggers are eating this up with almost nothing to comment on except that the film was a flop/disappointment on critical and financial proportions. Be that as it may, it had it's audience then, and surely does now but maybe these media blasters are too preoccupied with what ridiculous websites such as, even IMDb itself, have to say that they can't offer an ounce of positivity beside opinions based on mere facts that are ferociously overlooked based on opinions and opinions alone!
This is one sore itch that might take more than super cortizone creme to heal.
When will you ever learn, this feeling is all you can discern?
