So you are considering product placement in a movie.....

and you're in a meeting with the makers of Supergirl. Your company, A&W, desperately wants some front and center placement in the soon to be smash hit. So you talk it over with the movie company, and you agree on a soda machine with the A&W logo on it in the school, and, let's see......

YES! Get one of the attempted rapists in the beginning to wear an A&W shirt! WHat better advertising for the brand than to have a dumb hick truck driver attempted rapist wear your logo proudly on their body.

Great idea A&W exec!

Oh. I thought this was going to be about Popeye's.

Silly me.

Popeye's, one of the main product placement brands in the film, have locations in Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Germany, Guam, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Vietnam. That does not count the many locations all over the United States. They have over 2000 restaurants worldwide.

A&W has over 1,000 locations throughout the U.S. and Southeast Asia. That is for their restaurant franchises. The A&W root beer invented by the guy that started A&W, was first served in 1919. The root beer and other flavors they have are sold all over the US, Canada and the Caribbean. There are a bunch of supermarkets that stock A&W in the UK, and with the internet many people from all over the world can buy this item.

So I think you might be mistaken.

I can tell you that back in 1984, ain't nobody in Trinidad ever stepped foot inside a Popeye's on that island. We didn't even a McDonald's then. KFC ruled the roost as far as fast-food chains went.

In 1984 Popeye's opened their first restaurant outside of the US in Canada. In 1985 they had 500 restaurants. I am guessing they didn't move into Trinidad until the 90's or 2000's.
