Theory about this movie and Final Fight videogame
I don't know if this belief is common. Almost nobody knows this movie where I live (Buenos Aires). But, ever since my cousin made me notice, I have the theory that "Strrets of Fire (1984)" inspired Japanese Capcom creators for their game "Final Fight (1989)".
Why do I say that?
1) The protagonist of the movie is named "Tom Cody" and is referred to as "Cody". The main character of the game is "Cody". The even look similar.
2) The only cop you see in the game is a black guy named "Eddie". There are only 2 cops in the movie and the one with more speaking lines is named "Ed".
3) In both the game and the movie there is a similar looking subway scene.
4) One of the most obvious: In both, the story is about the hero rescuing his girlfriend from a gang of thugs.
5) The overall 1920s, 1950s mixed 1980s look.
There are probably more details I am not remembering. And I do not mean that Capcom ripped off the movie. But there are too many similarities too ignore that they took inspiration from it.
Again, where I live practically none has heard of the movie. So I have no idea if this is a well known theory, or not.
What do you think? I also have a similar theory about the movie "Legend (1985)" and the game "Final Fantasy 8 (1999)".
