What if Reboot?
I know Streets flopped at the box office, but it really was before its time. I didn't realize that Walter Hill intended on it being a trilogy but that makes sense. It felt as though it had an epic scale story to tell but fell short as Hill didn't leave you with a clear cliffhanger lead into a sequel. The soundtrack was remarkable for a film that failed. It was the begining of a "rock and roll fable" that never was finished.
If Hollywood is going to continue to reboot everything, Streets of Fire deserves its chance at redemption. Most of the original soundtrack stands the test of time and could be rerecorded by modern artists. Any writer worth a damn, given a few hours to talk to Hill about where he thought the story was going, could write a Trilogy that is compelling. Imagine a $100 million budget to film the trilogy in one shot. I could see this as the cast, and you tell me you wouldn't watch.
Liam Hemsworth as Tom Cody
Miley Cyrus as Ellen Aim
Tom Felton as Billy Fish
Jason Segel as Raven Shaddock
Kristen Stewart as Reva Cody
Laurence Fishburne as Officer Ed
Alexander Ludwig as Officer Cooley
Dave Franco as Clyde
Daniel Cappellaro as Greer
Elle Fanning as Babydoll
Attach a direcor like Zack Snyder
Tell me that over the course of 3 films that a trilogy wouldn't make back its money. I know 100 million sounds low to shoot a trilogy especially one with such a cast and director but if JJ Abrams can make Super 8 for 50. Most directors could do this with 100.
