Why would the maps Madison looks at to find Allan be in one piece or not tear when touched?? Especially after all that time in the water?

For the same reason that she can breath underwater, and that coral reefs are growing off Cape Cod.

Maybe they were made of plastic. Also, how did she know how to read the map and find allen in NYC?
