Rated PG?

"Red Dawn", which came out the same year, was the very first PG-13 rated film. I think that was released a little later though, so it wasn't around quite yet when Splash came out.

I don't believe Hannah's breasts are ever fully seen. The only real nudity I remember is when she arrives at the Statue of Liberty where she is briefly seen from behind. Otherwise, the filmmakers accomplished much through very strategic placement of her hair to cover her breasts.

Not all films back then received an automatic R rating for brief nudity. I think this would most likely receive a PG-13 today, but it's not exactly R-rated material either. Hannah's lack of attire is handled pretty tastefully throughout, and not very revealing.
