How awesome was Tom Hanks in the 80s?

He made so many fantastic movies in the 80s, and they all had the most ridiculous plotlines. This, The Burbs, Big... Gotta love Tom!

I really liked Tom Hanks a LOT in the '80s. He was hilarious, cute too. My favorite film is "Dragnet", with Dan Akroyd.
I think of that film often!

I didn't think much of him once he started doing dramas. He didn't age well, and was much better as a comedic actor. I didn't like "Forrest Gump", he overacted there & the script was ridiculous.

"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I loved him in the 80's. I'm not such a fan beyond that era though. He seemed like a different guy after that stretch of time.

Yeah, I love a lot of his movies from the 80s. He was pretty cute back then - he had the likability factor and was pretty funny.

Tom Hanks is just awesome -period. Whether it be the 80s, 90s, or the noughties. OK, he's played in some turkeys, but Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, The green mile and Castaway are excellent movies. So I don't think he was just good in that decade. Some of his latest movies haven't been so good though but those are down to the movie, not Tom's acting. As for him not aging so well - he's older than me but looks better.
