Band-aids and Makeup

An interesting bit of IMDb trivia:

She wore both band-aids and makeup over her nipples to conceal them.

I think that's the first time I ever heard of an actress doing that for a film. I think it would've been easier if she just glued her long hair to her chest like Brooke Shields did in The Blue Lagoon (1980).

But she was underwater... It would be unnatural to have hair stuck to her chest while swimming underwater. Hair flows freely, especially long hair, when submerged :) I think using band aids was brilliant. Cheap, sticky, readily available, and flesh colored. What else could you ask for?!

I'm curious ,if she used band aids and what not to cover up then why can we still see her hard nipples in some scenes ??? What was the point of covering up if we are just going to see your nipples anyways i wonder ?

I think it was only for scenes such as the Statue of Liberty scene when she was shown from the front. She must have taken them off once she put on the shirt.
