What if she got wet while wearing pants

As we can see from the movie, Madison turns into a mermaid when she gets wet. Well, what if she was wearing pants at the time? How would her legs "grow" together into a fish fin? Would the pants be merged into the fin? Would it still be there when she got dry again?

Maybe the pants would rip, I don't know. They clearly felt that having her wear dresses was just simpler.
