Howard Rollins
Rollins was incredible in this, and he made the TV version of IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT watchable. It was never the same after him.
shareI agree, but it was his drug abuse that got him canned from "In the Heat of the Night". He was later rehabilitated and did return to the series making "frequent appearances" in later episodes.
