How do you rank the 5 films?

As for me:

5. Places in the Heart
4. A Soldier's Story
3. The Killing Fields
2. A Passage to India
1. Amadeus

Just a really, really good year for Best Picture nominees. "A Soldier's Story" is the least known, but belongs in that company. I haven't seen "A Passage To India" but have seen and really liked the others, and would rate them from lowest to best as follows:

4. The Killing Fields
3. A Soldier's Story
2. Places Of The Heart
1. Amadeus

Amadeus might be a touch overrated, this is true. It was gloriously visually satisfying, however.

What an AMAZING array of movies in ONE YEAR.,..the Academy must have been sick or something....I won't rate them, but as for "Amadeus," it was not a great movie as a whole, but some scenes in it remain with one permanently
