My son's a movie critic on a big newspaper.

Says he doesn't think A Soldier's Story wears well...I think he's out of his beeping mind! Everyone I show it to loves it.
I can still remember him bringing his whole HS CLASS over to see it...more than once. You could have heard a pin drop. He's 38 now...getting complacent in his old age, I guess (hee...)

What's the newspaper your son works at?

It's the Dallas Morning News--but he's on a fellowship at Harvard now for a year (Nieman Fellowship, I think they call it). So he's been living in Dallas, TX for--15 years, and guess what he's going to study in Boston? African-American Culture! (Boston makes a certain amount of sense, but Harvard--sounds like he's trading experience for book learning!)

This film is a MASTERPIECE! Just as strong today as in 1984. Your son doesn't know wtf he is talking about.
(Or, if he's changed his mind since 2007, he didn't know what he was talking about.)
