What the shi* type of family ok's one daughter's wedding the day after..

... another daughter's birthday???

Seriously, What family does that or allows a daughter to plan a wedding then?

What the hell is with the father being sometimes worried about Jenny?? If he had raised her and she was as self obsessed as she is in this movie all the time, he should be more than SOMETIMES worried. Jenny is a spoiled brat and she deserves the oily variety bohunk although he is no where near hunky. Chunky maybe.

the family really doesn't have control of that. u answered ur own question. jenny is a self absorbed spoiled brat. that didn't have any consideration for her younger sis & planned a wedding day b4 sam's 16th b-day.

Grow up people, it's just a birthday, not a major milestone. She'll have another one later.

Thank you, gia...

and to the prick who said it was just a birthday and not a milestone... where are you from, Mexcio?? Sixteen IS a milestone birthday in America!!!

A milestone, really? Will the world come to an end without a sweet 16 party? Please. The family had bigger fish to fry that weekend, and pampering a 16 year old little *beep* wasn't one of them.

reply

This always bothered me too.

Surely the mother would've recognized the date when she heard it

or why didn't Sam say 'hey, that's the day after my birthday'

An - Andrew
Jo - Joseph
Be - Benjamin

If Sam would have spoken up and pleaded her case with conviction, and the mom would have then intervened and decreed that the wedding is too close to the spoiled and immature #2 daughter's birthday, then there would have been no premis for the movie.

My daughter's wedding was totally determined by which day the church was available

reply

Where we got married was totally determined by what was available on my Grandpa's birthday, since the last thing that had happened then was my Grandmother's demise.

reply

16 is just another birthday. 18 is a milestone.

reply

21 is a bigger milestone.

No, 16 was most definitely NOT "just another birthday".

16 was DRIVER'S LICENSE! That was a big deal.

Her name was Ginny.

It's the same type of family whose combined membership forgets another daughter's sixteenth birthday.

I agree OP. It's an OK film, but the underlying premise is just unbelievable.🐭

reply

What's the big deal? Everyone gets a birthday every year of their life. Everyone is, in theory if not in practice, only supposed to get one wedding day in all their years.
If my sister arranged her wedding ON my birthday I wouldn't care. Once you've reached double figures you're old enough not to stamp and scream about not being the centre of attention whenever you want to be.
Granted 'sweet sixteen' is a bigger deal in the USA than most other teenage birthdays, but Samantha was sixteen not six, she even said she didn't want or expect a big party for it, she just wanted her family to have remembered it.

Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

I couldn't stand Jenny!
