Not that funny in the 2010s.....

Honestly i just grabbed this movie extremely cheap of a video club sale... and for the price it was ok, but seriously i didn't laugh that much in it... It was enjoyable but most of the jokes that where supose to be very funny where kinda... WELL OK , but not much.

The panty raid scene... i smiled a bit but nothing was that funny... the pigs just enter and leaves the house like ... thats it.. nothing really happen. The jocks trash the house of the nerds a couple time but this is not funny, its just degrading...

I remember seeing this movie as a kid, or well a couple parts, cause the only thing i rememered was the scene where the rock hit the glass and somebody ask him "who are the nerds" and that sex scene where Lewis is disguise as the jocks and *beep* Betty.

Maybe as a kid i laught a lot, but today... wow... not so much.... its a cute movie, sure, but nothing really funny

On the other hand i laugh so much when i first saw American Pie Beta House..., probably because it was way over the top, more of today's outrageous comedic style, and even tough it pays tribute to ROTN in many ways.. for a lot of scene... its still way funnier....

But again like i say i don't want to trash this movie, its a 84 movie, and for such its still not that bad actually... i saw a lot of stuff from 80 to 86 that was total *beep* , most was martial arts movies)

and i guess these movies best value is nostalgia.. but im kinda curious how this movie can still keep his hight score on IMDB(cause 6.5 is hight on IMDB) beside how badly it has aged....

I will add one more time that for the 80s standard, this movie was probably just outrageously funny, it must have been one hell of a movie, but for todays standard... its not funny at all. The most corny scenes are just... well they seem so soft...

So i guess if you show this to your 16 y.o cousin or whatever, he won't laught much. But IMDB is nt forgiving on anything... i saw amazing movies getting scores like 6.0... so im thinking the people who vote today, does they do it on nostalgia, or not?

Its pretty much like playing a NES game today... back in the 80s and even early 90s, it was the *beep* SOOOO good, but show Punch Out, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon or any of the games that defined that generation and that we had fun playing as a kid, well they will say its crap...

Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!

To each their own. I saw this as a teen back in the 80's, and at 41, I still LMAO every time I watch it. Hell, I even laugh when my friends and I just quote certain parts of it.

I still find this funny and its predecessor, Animal house" funny as hell. But I understand that as morality loosens up, there is a flow of upmanship in everything we watch.Comedies, horrors, action movies.... the techniques get tightened up, you can show more gore or go deeper and harder with the terror, and you can do things in comedies that would have absolutely freaked the censors 30 years ago.

Every year film makers try to push the envelope and so, by comparison, the predecessors just seem lackluster and sedate.

But by the same token, there were things that could be used back then that would be frowned upon today. The crucifix scene in The Exorcist, the entirety of the script of Blazing Saddles, the kissing scenes in "Weird Science"/"3 O'Clock High" or the sex scenes in "Class".

So when you say that that ROTN was not that funny 0 years later, i'd have to agree. I would agree because it has been borrowed from, one-upped and left for dead after film makers took what they could from it and added new and exciting elements to their movies.

My "#3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

It is a film of it's ERA! That being the 1980's! We all know the 80's is an ERA that has a specific unique taste that was definitely NOT for everyone. Miami Vice! All glitz and NO substance! Slasher films! All gore and nudity dumb teenagers! TV sitcoms! Interchangeable all the same! Cartoon! Not good for children it just rots their brains! Action films! Just bloody carnage with muscle men who don't die! You could go on and on about all the cliches of the 1980's and how it's frowned upon now but for most of us who grew up during that time it's a golden era that will never be recaptured simply for it's over the top nature and complete utter lack of responsible use of money and over spending!

I was born in 84 so I don't remember much of the 80's but having watched all those 80's movies as a kid in the 90's I still consider it to be my golden era aswell. Like Back to the Future movies, Ghostbusters movies, Rambo movies, Terminator movies, Beverly Hills Cop movies, Lethal Weapon movies, Die Hard movies, 48 Hours movies, Police Academy movies,, Friday The 13th movies, Nighmare on Elm Street movies, Childs Play movies, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors, Honey I Shrunk the kids, Crocodile Dundee, Cheech and Chong movies, Indiana Jones movies, Robo Cop movies, Bloodsport, The Goonies, Ferris Buellers day off, license to drive, ernest movies, Overboard, Fletch, Three Amigos, like I could keep going on and on lol. There was soo many good movies that it will always hold that nostalgic factor for me. The Yuppie culture was huge in 80's movies

This movie makes me laugh just as much now as it did when I was 17. It's a classic and just as good as Animal House.
