Up to the movie? I'm asking because I believe someone once said that it does.

Pretty much every time I've seen the movie (on TV or satellite) it's opened up with the timeline of events that led to the war (i.e. NATO dissolving, the USSR having their worst wheat harvest in [70?] years, etc.).
Does the special edition add on to this?
