Yes, it's bad by today's standards but back when it was made there were a flood of films like this being released on video and the local video rental store was the place to find them.

There was also a bit of a ninja craze in my city back in the 1980s and this film was part of the reason, so it'll always be a little special to me.

Although very amusing to watch today (a ninja attacking a helicopter in a city golf course????), it's very entertaining for me now and makes me feel a little younger.

This wasn't just a video release though. I saw this at the movie theater when it first came out and LOVED it!

But you are right, the ninja craze was HUGE back then. I loved every minute of it. I used to get the ninja magazines, buy ninja stars, etc. I loved the whole culture of it (I was 13 when this was released). I went to see 'Ninja Assassin' when it was first released, hoping for a return to great ninja action flicks, and was severely disappointed by it. Give me 'Ninja III', 'Revenge of the Ninja' or 'Enter the Ninja' over that one any time!

It never made it into the cinemas here that I recall (Australia). I was about 10 and an old family friend made me a green ninja suit just like the one in the film that I sometimes secretly wore. The mask had black netting and it made me feel so cool, hehe.

I see. It was in the theaters here in the U.S. I believe it was rated R, so I had to convince my mom to let me see it. I was going with my buddy (who was also 13) and I told her that his mom was going with us. Of course his mom was just dropping us off.

I had a ninja suit back then too. At first, we used to just dress in all black, and wrap a t-shirt around our heads and make a mock ninja mask. We'd run around the neighborhoods at night, causing mischief. Then my buddy ordered an actual ninja suit from one of the ninja magazines back then and it was the coolest thing. I got one not too long after that. We even had the split toe boots (tabi's I think they were called). We had made mock swords by finding old tent poles, wrapping them in black electrical tape, then finding broom handles that fit inside the poles. We'd make a squard out of wood or cardboard to separate the 'blade' from the 'handle'. Use some old black shoe laces to tie to each end, then sling it over us like an actual sword. We had some throwing stars as well that we bought from this store in our city called Ports of the Orient. Man, those were fun times.

That's really cool, must have been a lot of fun. I remember those ninja magazines. I used to drool over all the stuff in there. One of the mags had the T-shirt wrap-and-tie method for making a mask. I still do it sometimes to this day for fun.

One day in the eighties my friend and I actually walked into a ninjitsu class and almost signed up. The teacher came over to talk to us and left the door open should we want to go ahead with it. We would have been the youngest recruits, but never took it up.

Funny you should mention the ninjitsu class. I got out of work this afternoon and it was such a great day, I decided instead of going straight home, I was going to take a little ride (took the harley to work). I was in an area here that I'd never been in before, since I've only been living here for 2 years, and I passed by a Ninjitsu school. I'm thinking of stopping in there one day to check it out now.

Mate, I would have to agree with you. I just watched The Last Stand (starring Arnie) tonight and it was so stupid! It was such a bad film. Give me Ninja III any day!

Uh-huh, and the knee bone is connected to the di*k bone!

"i probably laughed the whole movie"

Sounds like the sign of a good movie to me!

I think this film is pure vintage 80's chopsocky schlock gold. 10 out of 10 from me.
