I thought Nancy should have just turned her back on him and gone back down the stairs to her father.
I understand that this was to leave it open for a sequel, but the sequel could still have been made even with the ending I mentioned
Anyway, I like the movie until that last bit.

The entire final act is anti-climatic and gibberish. Nancy's Mom is on fire, disappears, and no one cares, LOL? And Nancy defeats Freddy by turning her back on him? Stop it. Then how the movie finishes doesn't match up with part 3 AT ALL.
shareWes Craven's ending wasn't done right imo cause there is no moment Nancy wakes up in it. She defeats Freddy, opens the door to the hall, goes through it, and then is suddenly on the front porch of her house in different clothes. If that's supposed to tell us she's woken up from a bad dream it's done poorly cause without knowing Wes Craven's intention, it doesn't show that at all. It more to me shows her going from a bad dream to a good dream. I've had dreams sort of like that where I'm in one place seeing things and then magically am in a another different place experiencing different things. That's what his ending feels like to me.
