So, I love this movie but I've never understood why Roy is bleeding at the end. His original wound has long healed and poison wouldn't have made the wound re-open. Any bleeding should be internal from his poisoning or the bullet that was pumped out of his stomach.
The confusion over what caused Roy to get sick and how he's affected by it is the biggest flaw in the film, imo.
This from the wikipedia synopsis of the movie, after Roy was hospitalized:
"The doctor informs Roy that his stomach lining has been deteriorating due to his gunshot injury, which was discovered when they recovered the silver bullet while pumping Roy's stomach. Hobbs is warned that his stomach could tear apart and kill him if he continues to play ball."
It didn't seem particularly confusing that Roy got sick (was poisoned) right after Memo gave him an eclaire at the party. She slipped him a mickey. His deteriorating stomach lining from the Iris shooting was affected by the poisoning. I agree that you'd think any bleeding outside of the stomach would be confined inside his body, not through his old gunshot wound location- unless after pumping out the bullet the doctors had decided to surgically inspect the stomach through his abdomen. Not likely as he surely wouldn't have been able to play baseball nearly as soon as he did after just having his stomach-pumped. So yes the bleeding is a contrived plot device to make sure we know Hobbs is really hurting. I love this movie too but it does have some gaps in the narrative, especially for first-time viewers.
