Love Farnsworth

Is there anybody who had a more soothing, friendlier voice and demeanor? What a likeable actor.

reply

Right, Oscar. I also loved this guy in "The Grey Fox" and "The Two Jakes." Both he and Wilford Brimsley seemed to capture the spirit of any movie in which they appear.

Yep he was a great character actor and was in many pictures over the years. Think he was a stuntmen at one time also. The Grey Fox and The Straight Story were the only two films he did I believe where he was the leading man/main character. I loved his work in The Natural and the great line while eating with Hobbs in the Italian restaurant: "...hard to pronounce but it eats good."

I really like Richard farnsworth as well... BUT keep in mind he was also responsible as one of the two catchers who caught Kunta Kinte (run away slave) and tied him to a tree with Chains and cut off Kuntas Foot .. ( 1976 ) .... Roots ..

reply

Yeah he played heavies too - like a bit part in The Outlaw Josey Wales as a comanchero eyeing Sondra Locke. He was basically a stunt man and bit player/character actor during his career until finally getting more deserved screen time his last 20 or so years of life.

He had the best line. The way he delivered that critque during the montage: "That was kind of a bad play there." Understated perfection!

Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion.

Yep-no Doubt;

"I can't spell it, but it eats good don't it"

If you ask me, Farnsworth was the real natural. There's absolutely zero affectation in his performance(s). He's %100 genuine every second he's on screen.

So true.

He was well known around New Mexico and was much the same acting or not.
