I always hated Brimley as an actor, and I remember dreading the fact he was in a baseball movie I really wanted to see.

His performance in this film totally changed my perception of Brimley. I loved his character and loved Brimley's interpretation of Pops.

Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

brimley has epic amounts of gravitas.

That and he's a beast of knowledge of the Great American Song Book.. (although Red may have been better)

Brimley was great in the role and perfectly cast for it, IMHO.
