It did re-vamp Chuck Norris' career

As much as many people dislike this film now, it did put Chuck Norris' career on the map in the 1980s. It received lots of promotion and was played continuously on premium cable.

Actually, it was also one of the first Cannon films on the WPIX showcase of "ticket tonight". It premiered on WPIX (New York, New York) May of 1987, being shown twice in less than a week on that station.

People just don't want to admit that this film was the ultimate Chuck Norris of the 1980s. It was not The Delta Force or Invasion USA, even though both of those films were also from Cannon.

Many people look at the 1980s films and ridicule them. At least they did look real and not computerized. People until this day still cannot admit of what they did like at one time.

For more promotion, this was the first Cannon film that went down in price on MGM video from $79.95 to $19.95 to be sold in department stores. People loved this film.

Thanks for reading, Joseph

Hello Joseph.

First of all, great post!
I still do love this movie a lot to this day! Though I've never seen it in a theater just because I was too young at that time. Be sure, I would pay twice or more if I could watch the movie in a theater at least once.

By the way, I genuinely hope to see MIA on Blu-Ray soon.

Hi Cordell,

Thanks for the positive feedback. Actually, a local theater 3 cities away from me was showing Invasion USA for a cult film series they had two years ago. I never got the opportunity to get there. I still say though that MIA is Norris' best film and that has never been shown at that theater three cities away.

You obviously have great taste in film and you are true about it too. I don't have a Blu-Ray player, but don't worry, Missing In Action will be on Blu-Ray before you know it. MIA was one of the first DVD releases by MGM from the Cannon Group. This is because it was such a big hit when it came out in 1984 until the later 1980s.

Talk to me about any other action films of the 1980's. Missing in Action is just one classic from the Cannon Group, the coolest action company when I was growing up in the 1980s.

Cordell, you are COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always, Joseph

I think you meant part 2.That is the one most people dislike, even though I did like it.This is definitely up there when u talk about the best films Chuck ever did. This is right up there with his best of course,Code Of Silence,The Delta Force, and Lone Wolf McQuade.Hero And The Terror,Silent Rage, and Forced Vengeance are up there as well, for me anyway

Count me in for preferring part Two. The first is unfairly accused of racism because Norris acts like a jerk towards the Vietnamese villains. Fact of the matter is, Norris as Braddock acts like a jerk towards anyone and everyone except for Tuck and an old man coerced into lying at a propaganda news conference. Braddock keeps his mouth shut in the prequel unless he has a reason and bides his time.

To the Commies, yes, but he acts like a dick even to people whose help he needs.
