Did Hikaru and Misa. . . (probably spoilers)

. . . Sleep together on Earth? I'm referring to the time inbetween their first kiss in the city and their rescue by Macross. It looks like several hours have elapsed, and Misa is zipping up her jumpsuit as they step outside. I had always assumed they had, both because of the visual clues in the scene and later hints in the scenes with Minmei. My girlfriend asked me this after we watched this the other night, and while I had always assumed they had, I wanted to hear some other peoples opinions. Thanks.

reply

I think yeah...they did it,but that's something that's up in the air...
you know, because the director left some hints so the viewers can take the option they want,as it's written in the trivia of this AWESOME film.
...and frankly,if you are in that situation,u certainly MUST do that...for the good of mankind, jejejeje

I had assumed this myself when I watched it not too long ago. Which then begs the question: what if Misa had gotten pregnant got Hikaru while on earth?

reply

Yeah I always thought that to Misa zippering up her zipper. After all Hikaru chooses Misa Hayase over Lynn Minmay.

No question in my opinion; like you have stated Misa is doing up her zip only a matter of hours after realising that all the sentimental memories of love and loss (found on the ancient platform in the ocean) had awakened her own womans desires and the need for physical closeness. I mean the relationship had to go down that road as it was obvious from the start that there was an attraction between them anyway! With the possibility of not being rescued, the intimacy of the situation, the obvious attraction & the human factor (god I need a sh*g)...I would state it goes without saying!!

Needless to say; superb adult themes which avoid being gratuitous or crass & also manage to deliver a highly complex range of emotion. If this is aimed at kids in Japan as a demographic audience, they are much more emotionally mature than ours are!

InfiniteInertia you are right there was an attraction between Hikaru and Misa Hayase from the start. After landing on Earth and spending some time together there was going to be some physical union between the two.
