Lovelines is Finally on DVD! HOORAY!

To All Fellow Admirers of the movie Lovelines.

I have some wonderful news for all of you. Lovelines is finally available on DVD. Yes it is. No fooling. No kidding. You can buy it on Amazon right now for only $20.95, which is $9.00 cheaper than what an Ebay seller was selling it for. It is being released via a new division of Sony Pictures called Sony Screen Classics, which is an on demand video division of Sony where they release movies for those who would like to have them on DVD. I was surprised to see that this FUN teen romantic musical comedy is now finally available on DVD. It's about time.

At the moment, there aren't currently any plans to issue any on demand film via Sony Screen Classics on Blu-Ray, but that can change at any time.

Now that this is finally on DVD, maybe the soundtrack album should get released alongside it as an on demand CD. That would be "IT".

I just thought that I would share this wonderful news with all of you. I hope that everyone is as overjoyed as I am.

I just got this yesterday and I tell ya, the transfer is awesome! The colors pop and the sound is great! More than what I expected. I too have loved this movie since I saw it on some random cable channel in 1986. There MUST be copies of the soundtrack somewhere as they were originally planning to release it. Oh well, I'm ripping the songs from the DVD; at least they are better than my crusty old VHS rips.

Lovelines has been re-issued on DVD.

This time, it is Mill Creek Entertainment that has re-issued Lovelines. Their re-issue is part of a six movie set on 2 DVD's called Beach Bodies 6. It is the third movie on the second DVD. Other movies on this set are Private Resort, Hardbodies, Sideout, Spring Break and Calendar Girl. I purchased my set and I received it on Saturday. The only advantage that this particular re-issue has that the Sony Screen Classics DVD doesn't have is a title menu, where you can choose what movie that you would like to watch. I can now preserve my VHS tape of this and watch this version whenever I want to.

If they would only officially issue the soundtrack of music from the film, that would be "IT". I would love to see it finally issued officially one of these days on limited edition vinyl, CD and digital download. Again, if that were to happen, that would be "IT". I have a bootleg CD of the music, but it has the songs ripped from the movie, with snippets of dialogue from the film on certain songs, with an unreleased song called Hearts on Fire by Tyson Moses, which was recorded for the movie, but wasn't used.

I just thought that I would pass this along.

With all due respect to you (and not insult intended), this movie will (hopefully) NEVER be released on Blu-Ray; it just wasn't any good.

If Sony really cared, they'd put better flicks about teenage love on DVD from this service like To Find A Man, not caca like this (and people say that the High School Musical series sucks? At least the kids in that were mostly responsible teens and the music was probably great, plus unlike this movie, they were actual teens!)

Regarding Lovelines, I respectfully disagree. IMHO, Lovelines is a wonderful little movie. When I watched this on HBO back in 1986, I wasn't even aware of the film nor was I aware of any negative critical reviews for it. I was 16 years old at the time and though I am in my mid 40's, I still enjoy this movie. IMHO, it's much better than most of those many other teen exploitation fare of it's time. Plus, it's an '80's film with all the elements of the '80's. I'm am '80's kid myself and I enjoyed and still enjoy everything that the '80's had to offer in the entertainment department, such as music, movies and TV shows, including, but not limited to, cartoons shown on Saturday mornings.

The film you mentioned, To Find a Man, is an early '70's film and the '70's was a much different decade than the '80's was. My childhood was in the '70's, but my youth was in the '80's and things were different in that decade as it was also different in the '70's.

It only took me one viewing of Lovelines to see the hidden greatness this particular film has. I am not saying that it is "a great movie" by any stand or stretch, but it is a FUN movie and I mean F-U-N as it is a fun movie to watch. There's lots of music in it and it has lots of partying, romance and everything that was part of the '80's. My feelings for Lovelines will never change. I still love this movie and I have watched it a little over a dozen times and I never get tired of it. I still enjoy it to this day and my feelings have never changed for it.

Movies like this need to be watched with an open mind. With open mindedness, hidden greatness can be discovered and once it's discovered, the movie can be appreciated and then, enjoyment ensues. When hidden greatness of any movie is discovered, feelings change and the person sees that the movie isn't as bad as they thought it was before. I watch movies with an open mind all the time and there are many movies that I enjoy as a result of that. Of course, there are movies that I don't like as well. Every movie will have people that love it despite any negative things said about it as there will also be people who won't like it at the same time.

By the way, the "High School Musical" series is a product of the late 2000's as it has all the elements of the 2000's and what made the 2000's. Each and every decade, once it begins, has it's elements and attitudes.

Of course, solex10, you do have a right to your own opinion and I do respect your opinion, even though I do disagree with it. It's cool. Thanks for posting.
