what happened to the other three guys with Dith? I mean, one minute, five of them and the boy are finding their way out; the next, there is just Dith, one guy and the boy?

Its that man again!!
They split up at some point, you may have missed that sequence, it was only a few seconds. 2 go one way, and Dith, the child, and the other guy went there own way.
Then if you recall the man Dith was with stepped on a landmine and died and the child died shortly after from the blast as well leaving Dith as the only guy.
i missed the men splitting up too. In reality there were 11 of them that started out...not sure if they split up or not afterwards.
