Remake
I think that if this movie were remade (well) it would be pretty successful?
Do you think they should remake it? If so would would you cast and have direct?

NO MORE F'ING REMAKES!
sharethey did remake it... it was called Encino Man and it sucked
shareI think it could potentially be done again, yes. Do I think they should? I'm not so sure.
I don't think the director matters all that much, nor the actors. Remember that the actors in this film were not A-list actors at the time. Danny Glover was not a household name (yet) and while Timothy Hutton was, he was not as bankable as say... Tom Cruise was in that day.
Others who disagreed in this thread are just tired of the remakes, but the problem that Hollywood has now is fresh new ideas. Everything has just about been done! The only things that really haven't are true life incidents which pretty much are the only things left.
A look at this years list of Oscar nominees is perfect proof of this. We had the King, the rock climber and the Facebook guy; all real people. Hollywood has dried up in the way of creativity.
In any case, I really don't see how they can improve this film and in the end that's really what matters about remakes. If it could be done better, then it has a shot. This is still a movie that is hardly dated, so it doesn't appear to be ready to have a good go at a remake.
As I said, the potential is there, but I don't think it's time (yet).
This film doesn't need a remake; it's fine the way it is.
I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!
No. No remakes. Especially for this film. It's fine the way it is. Leave it alone.
