Nice to see how many fans there are of this flick

Most people haven't heard of it, and those who have often feel only disdain. I just love it, can't really defend it but it's one of my faves. I find it fun, what can I say?

It has BEEN A favorite of mine ever since I first heard about this movie and watched it back in the mid 80's. When this film was released on March 16, 1984 I had just turned 12 years old the day before. Every time I use to see this on cable TV during the late 80's and 20 years ago I would watch it. It is one of my favorites from the 80's and that is why someone who is around my age should create a network that is made for B movies.

Every January, I watch my Ice Pirates DVD. Even though I think the whole water concept is dumb, I actually think the environment is well thought out.

I like the way the robots are utilized as servants and cannon fodder. I like the whole class system with the castrated slaves.

I just caught for the first time in the scene where Ron Perlman's cooking the turkey, there were these black robot hands that come out of the walls that assited him. Details like that crack me up! There was no explanation--they were just there!

It's definitely a little deeper than it needed to be. :)

This has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. There is something so "carefree" and fun about the movie especially for Sci-Fi fans. Great cast who all had good chemistry with each other and a story with a humorous take on 80's space opera's.

I was three when this movie came out and watching it repeatedly on VHS when I was about seven, so as cornball as it is, it'll always be a major part of my childhood. In fact, I just saw it recently for the first time in about 15 years, and I still love it!

Not particularly. It depends if you can handle the dated effects and cheesy 80's synth music. I'm actually silly enough to watch it once a year--it's what I'm doing right now. :)

It's January, and that means I'm watching The Ice Pirates again! :)

I just noticed in the castration scene, there's a woman who looks like she's applying shaving cream to Robert Urich's crotch. Then when the old man is holding the straight razor with his shaky hand, there's another guy (a homosexual?) that looks like he's shaving Urich's crotch? It's a "blink and you'll miss it" moment. :)
