Awkward moment on the DVD commentary

On the 2002 special edition DVD, there’s a point on the commentary track where Zack Galligan starts talking about how a certain day of shooting had started and Howie Mandel interrupted him and asked why anyone would want to hear about that. It then has some awkward amount of time of silence before they all start talking again as if nothing happened. I believe it was during the scene where they wake up to find the five Mogwais in their cocoons. I’ve always wondered about this and if there was anything more to Mandel’s attitude during this. It seems like something that would have just been edited out of the track completely, and considering the bit of silence that follows maybe something WAS edited, but who knows…

I thought it was Joe Dante making fun of Zack?
