Did anyone notice?

Everyone in Kingston Falls seems to drive really old cars. I presume the film takes place in 1984, but you'll notice that all of the main characters drive cars from the 50s and 60s. I wonder if this was done on purpose to save money or just to show how "old school America" Kingston Falls still was.

lol to save money? The film grossed like $160 million. Anyway, "the latter" is closer to the answer to your question.

Yes, but they didn't get that money until AFTER the film was made and released.
Your logic is flawed.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

It's like people now driving cars from 1980-1995.

you clearly don't know how cars looked like in the 50s and the 60s, are you 12?

Um, yes I do. Here's the IMCDB page. You'll notice that the cars driven by the main characters are all from the 60s. The Futtermans own a 50s Nash Metropolitan, Billy drives a '67 Volkswagen, Randall drives a '63 Corvair. Most of the other cars are from the 70s, but still, yes, I know what 50s and 60s cars look like. Cars are one of my main interests.

I figured it was to make the town seem more wholesome. Try to get the "typical American family" vibe off of it. That's why they also show older movies on the tv.
