A Brief Theatrical Run

Way back in the 1980s when this came out, I thought it would be the ULTIMATE up-dated version of Godzilla. I saw it playing at a theatre in downtown Edmonton and planned on going to see it, but was surprised when the theatre pulled it after only a couple of days.

A week afterwards, I saw it for rent in a video store. The brief theatrical run and the quick transition to video made me aware it was probably a "stinker". I never ever did get the chance to see it. I don't think I care to now.

It's a solid entry in the franchise and certainly the darkest one besides the original. Unfortunately, Godzilla 1985 is still not available on DVD in North America so unless you import the japanese version (known as The Return of Godzilla), your only chance of getting it is by tracking down the old vhs of the film. If you can find a copy though, it's definitely worth a watch.
