Who to contact for the DVD.

For all that are interested in getting movie released on DVD, we need to bombard Lakeshore entertainment at http://www/lakeshoreentertainment.com
I did, but if we request it in force we might actually be able to get it released like we all want.

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?

reply

Yeah, I can't believe they haven't released it yet. I mean why buy the rights to something when you're not even gonna release it on DVD? I know they probably got the rights before DVDs were introduced, but... yeah they should release it.

Ramones, the best band ever.

reply

I thought Anchor Bay Entertainment/Starz! owned the rights? since Rodger Cormans "New World Pictures" distributed the movie in the first place and AB/Starz! own their catoluge of films.

Maybe Lakeshore is waiting for a future US Godzilla theatrical release to cash in on.

hmmm, Disney purchased the entire Cormen library last year and Sony owns everything Godzilla to my knowledge (DVD/Home Video). so i'm pretty sure if it does come out on DVD it will either be Sony or a bootleg.

Man, I really need to add this into me collection. Along with Godzilla vs. Biollante (my favorite Godzilla film), Gojira 1984 would complete my collection. (I'm not too crazy about Megalon).

Universal owns King Kong vs. Godzilla.

The only films that do not have an Official US Releases are Godzilla Vs. Megalon, Godzilla 1985, and Godzilla Vs. Biollante.

There used to be GvM DVD apparently, also I own the MST3K version from Rhino, both DVD versions now out of print.

reply

Megalon is actually available on a double feature with Smog Monster, but its really rare.

reply

That is where i got mine from the same one infact watching it right now

TCM has a list of 200 films, you're supposed to vote for which one you'd like to see on DVD. Godzilla 1985 is on it. Finally we might be able to see the Japanese version. So go and vote and maybe we'll finally get a R1 release of the film

reply

would you be able to play it on an american dvd player though???

There's a torrent which includes every Godzilla movie (except the 1998 US) in HD. If you guys want the link, I'll be more than happy to give it. If you just want the 1985 or a specific group, uncheck the ones you don't want.

This film has finally been released on both Region 1 DVD and Blu-ray. You can order it from an online retailer off of Amazon at a reasonable price.
