so did the bum die? They seemed to leave this up in the air in the Japanese version, more so than the American version where they add in a screaming sound effect and roll the same clip of Godzilla stomping on the camera.

it's kind of easy to miss, but if you look carefully, when he hits the ground, before he starts yelling at Godzilla, you can see he hit his head on a piece of rubble, that's why he's wincing in pain and touching his scalp after he's fallen. He died from the head injury, perhaps also aided by the fright of the monster towering above him.
shareprobably the best theory I've heard yet - though I tend to think if he died, he died "more" in the Japanese than in the US version.

If you ask me, he is strongly implied to die in the English version for the reasons you state, but I always assumed he just faints from exhaustion/fright when Godzilla roars at him, which is in keeping with his comedic character.
I mean, really, how many times will you look under Jabba's manboobs?
