Who was worse: Peck or Hardemeyer?

In your opinion who was worse between Peck or Hardemeyer?

reply

Hardemeyer, but I've always much preferred the second movie to the first. The first is ok and everything, but the second one just does everything better.

Don't give up the fight for truly independent cinema!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes the second movie better than the original, I've seen the sequel before I've seen this movie and can't help but enjoy it, this movie here was great but there were some slow scenes.

Peck was worse. His motive was more or less based on wanting to get even with Venkman after feeling personally slighted. Hardemeyer was an ass, but at least he had somewhat of a reasonable excuse (trying to shield his boss, the mayor from bad publicity) rather than acting merely out of spite.

Peck dates the movie as being in 1980's. EPA wasn't taken seriously by Reagan. Liberals were against global warming, but it was 'idea' not like the hard evidence we have today---the fluctuations in temps and massive storms.

If it had been made today, he might have worked for a while to get the necessary items vs just randomly yelling. Or at least made Egon prove he had up to date permits. Presented more rational.

Another reason why I consider Hardemeyer to be the worst is because he sent the Ghostbusters to an insane asylum which is much harder to get out of than jail.

I find both despicible but I have to go with Peck cause unlike Hardemeyer, he accused the ghostbusters of some pretty serious stuff without evidence. In the famous "This man has no dick" scene, before that line is uttered he accuses the ghostbusters of spraying hallunigenic gas on people to make them see ghosts. That's something that would send the ghostbusters to prison for 30 years. It's also a dumb thing to say since any evidence of that (which there never was any) was blown up in the fire house.

Plus Hardemeyer also loved and enjoyed seeing the Ghostbusters get justice served on them, the scene where you see Hardemeyer smiling at the Ghostbusters' when they were sent to a mental hospital made you want to punch him in the face.

As a whole I didn't think the character of Hardemeyer was as well written as the character of Peck
