Love this movie , great movie great soundtrack , but a couple of things bug me about it 1 the town as made a law no dancing ok but what about the young adults riding motorbikes with no helmet why isn't that a law 2 and when Ren and his friends go across state line for a night out drinking and dancing how's that I thought you have to be 21 to drink and enter a bar in America aren't Ren friends in high school and quite often called kids in the movie

Motorcycle helmet laws may not have been in place in 84. They are standard now, but if I had to guess, there was no law yet in place in 84. As for the drinking, it was easier back then. Some parts of the country were actually 18 and above. But most likely they either had fake IDs or it was a bar that was lax. There were always certain bars growing up you knew wouldn't check IDs.
