The Anti-Big Chill
You know what I loved about this movie? It was like an antidote to all the Big Chill self-righteousness that was so big at the time. "The 60s Generation Comes of Age", it seemed to be: they're professional, they're smart, they do designer drugs, but what have they lost?
My take? Many post-hippies became coke-snorting a-holes just like Peter Weller in this flick, which seems to nod knowingly at 60s roots in ways similar to "The Big Chill" (I believe you hear The Band as well as Three Dog Night), but with much, much more cynicism, thankfully.
