It's official: Denis Villeneuve set to adapt Dune

It's been rumored for a while now, but it's confirmed that Villeneuve (Sicario, Arrival and the upcoming Blade Runner 2049) will adapt what he's called his dream project.

I've only seen one of his films (the very solid Prisoners), but the films mentioned above were either well received or have great buzz. I'm pretty confident in this choice and excited at the possibility of a Dune franchise (while still having reservations about the sheer magnitude of the task at hand).

Thoughts?

Seems like a good choice. I thought that all three of the films he made were well done.

I have only seen Sicario, which was good.

I will put this effort in the hopeful optimism category.
