Just watched this movie

I am a huge Kathleen Tuner fan, and just had the opportunity to watch Crimes Of Passion, and I must say, that Kathleen was excellent in this. It shows you what a all around grreat actress Mrs. Turner is. She can play many parts, and make them believeable. I can not understand why this movie did not get an award, especially Kathleen Turner. It would be nice if actual people could vote on what they like and not these retarded critics!! I also likes her in VI Warshawski, and could not understand why people did not like that movie.

I agree that Kathleen Turner is brilliant here. I'm actually rather surprised she took this role, but I'm glad she did. She was on a roll in the '80s with films like "Romancing the Stone" and "Body Heat" -- films that capitalized on her sexy image but didn't go over the top like this one.

She was also brilliant in John Waters' "Serial Mom." I'm glad she takes those daring roles. I'll have to check out "V.I. Warshawski," a film that bombed for whatever reason.

It's because critics and the "academy" frown on films like this because of the excessive sex. It's a trashed up film for sure, but there's also a great deal of emotional arcs as well. They can't see passed the hardcore nookie, though.

I gave up on the Academy when they chose Julia Roberts over Ellen Burstyn, who gave the performance of a lifetime in "Requiem for a Dream." The Academy is all about rewarding careers they think are worthy ("paying your dues") rather than recognizing the year's most challenging performances. That's why so many actors seem to win for roles after the ones that should have won.

"Crimes of Passion" is a daring, challenging film that, for better or worse, sticks with you long after you've seen it. I'm not sure it's Oscar-worthy, but it's certainly worthy of consideration. I suspect it never even got to that point.
