At that stage in his career, is it even a cameo? :) According to IMDB, it was his 8th role ever...

But VERY surprising when seeing it now! I saw that last night and paused it to check it out here, and yup, it was him!

You may have a point there. Number of appearances aside (which sometimes do not mean jack), I have no idea how known he was at the time.

I don't like the term "nobody", as I feel everyone is something or somebody, no matter what they do or don't do. I prefer the term "unknown".

I really wasn't taking offense or anything like that, I just don't prefer the phrase "nobody", but it doesn't bother me if anyone else decides to use it:-).

The funny thing is, I was watching that scene going "wait, is that Eddie Lebec from Cheers?", totally missing the fact that Jay Thomas is sitting right next to an almost thin John Goodman (probably because I'd been watching some Cheers episodes lately).

Yep! I came to imdb to see if that was Mr. Goodman! Funny thing is the waitress was played by Hallie Foote. She is better known as Grandma Lois in the Paranormal Activity series! 3 future stars in one scene!
