excellent

This film is a precious gem...totally under-rated on IMDb with a 6.6
Thoughtful, almost profound in its social commentary.

All things considered, this movie IS a comedy.

Just because a film had dramatic moments or something to say, that doesn't exclude it from being a comedy.

same could be said for comedy or any other movie your point dosent make sense

Yes, this movie was a partial comedy. "You were great in bed last night, but you're going to have to do something about those toes!"

Sure, I laughed out loud in some spots but it was pretty deep too. It's a comedy the way M*A*S*H* is a comedy not the way an "Ernest" movie is a comedy.

susan-from-texas: . . . but the nudity precluded it.
Nudity? What nudity? Bare feet?

The "brief nudity" was the nude magazines and such.

i thought it was very good, my first sayles film. the lead actor did a really good job considering he had no dialogue and i liked the cheesy cheap special effects. they worked well.

Brilliant movie! Strange and bizarre, yet socially relevant, funny, cool, unique, thought provoking. Great music, great acting... Joe Morton was ridiculously good. One of my favorite performances ever. What he had to portray was extremely difficult and only a truly talented actor could have pulled it off and he certainly did!

I just viewed this film and it is excellent. It makes a point that we must reach out and communicate with others I belive.
I agree with a poster here. Although some scenes may be humorous, it has overwhelming heavy material, making it a thinking persons film more than a comedy.
I also agree that it is underated. No comments about the special effects please. It was obivoulsy low budget so he had to be innovative with what he had.

It was good and rather original, but far from excellent IMO. I gave it a 7 out of 10.
