From the panoramic shots, it looks a lot like the place the Getty Museum was built.
Does anyone know if this is so?

Yes, that's the location of the newer Getty Museum. That area is just North of Sunset Blvd, West of the 405 Fwy.

Thank you, Moira. I have been to the Getty a couple of times, but that was recently & this movie was shot 24 years ago. So, while it did look like it, I wasn't sure.

Could have also been Mountain Gate -- gated community just north of Getty Center.

No, just watched the DVD and listened to the commentary. It was the Getty.
