If they did a remake

If there ever was a remake of this film, and this film deserves one. Who would you get for the principle roles?

Perhaps you know, you realize this thing is a remake itself of the far better noir, "Out of the Past". It is hoped deeply that a remake of this stench is not perpetrated on the world.

What is the meaning of meaning?

Against All Odds is a remake of the 1947 movie Out Of The Past. Out Of The Past stars Jane Greer (who plays Mrs. Wyler in the remake), Robert Mitchum, and Kirk Douglas. Except for a few subtle differences such as name and location changes, Against All Odds is just like Out Of The Past. While both movies are great in their own way, I have to say that I like Against All Odds better because of the beautiful Mexican scenery. Among the locations they used were: Cozumel, Quintana Roo, the Yucatan, Isla Mujeres, Tulum, and Chichen Itza. I love the old ruins and learning some of the history that Rachel Ward's character Jessie kept telling Terry.

Out Of The Past (1947) - In a small town in California, the mysterious Jeff Bailey owns a small gas station and is in love with the local Ann. When a stranger just arrived in town meets him, Jeff is ordered to travel to meet the powerful criminal Whit Sterling. Before traveling, Jeff calls Ann and tells her the story of his life, when he was a private eyes hired by Whit for US$ 5,000.00 to find his former mistress Kathie that had shot Whit and stolen US$ 40,000.00. The competent Jeff finds Kathie in Acapulco, but she tells him that she had not taken Whit's money and they fall in love for each other and escape from Whit. When the former partner of Jeff, Fisher, finds the couple living in an isolated cabin, Kathie kills him and Jeff buries his corpse. Jeff accidentally finds the receipt of deposit of the amount in Kathie's purse and leaves her forever. When Jeff meets Whit, he surprisingly finds Kathie living with him; Whit asks Jeff one last job to get even and release Jeff from his debt. But Jeff finds that Whit is actually framing him.

Against All Odds (1984) - Terry Brogan is a broke football player who just got cut from his team. When he's out of a job his old friend Jake Wise meets with him and offers him a job. He hires Terry to find his girlfriend Jessie Wyler. Jake tells Terry that she stabbed him and escaped with $50,000. Terry finds Jessie living in a house down in Cozumel. They fall in love and travel to Chichen Itza to try to escape Jake, but one of Terry's friends, Sully,(also one of Jake's goons) finds Terry with Jessie, and amidst a struggle Jessie kills Sully. Terry buries the body and Jessie goes back to L.A. to Jake. Jake wants Terry to do one more job for him, but Terry doesn't realize is that Jake is framing him for the death of Steve Kirsch. Terry finds papers that could destroy Ben Caxton, the guy who Jake works for and also Jessie's stepfather, but the tables are turned when Jessie kills Jake to defend Terry.

Typically, I'm fine with remakes as long as they are taken seriously. However, I do not believe this film needs a remake because there is no way a newer version could capture the feeling of the Bridges version.

No way.

Ward, Bridges and Phil Collins make this an iconic classic in my view.
