Holy cow! Jeff Bridges is so hot in this show! I wish his shirt was off and his pants slightly undone in the whole show (just after the love scene in the ruins). I never even liked JB until this movie - well, I take that back. The "Last Picture Show" was pretty fantastic. Happy trails to you...
Go on! Rip the shirt off... rip the lousy shirt off!
All I can say about JB in this movie is DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
Gets me all heated up watching this guy in All Odds. Love his beard... gives him the Barry Gibb look.
I met JB 10 years ago at a Streisand party and I told him he was my first teen crush. After hearing that he gave me a great big bear hug and thanked me for the ego boost. He loved it... Super cool "DUDE" ... End of line.
I know this is a late reply, but just caught some of the film and holy cow, I had to post the same. He's sex on a stick in this film - not just the abs and the tan but the eyes and the hair and my, my that perfect little bum in chinos. Wow!
Hey, I admire Jeff Bridge's physique and wish I had comparable level of fitness, but, without seeming envious, I thought he was somewhat vain to parade his six pack like he did in those scenes. When someone is pointing a gun at you, I would assume the first instinct is to draw up and button your pants and pull one's shirt around oneself protectively, not posing like some kind of Chippendale's model. A bad acting choice and it cost the movie a couple of points because of it.

by - brownish33 on Fri Jul 1 2011 10:51:18 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- this was the 80's and it became popular to be very "fit" in movies and just in general, thanks to action greats like Arnold and Stallone. naturally other actors followed suit.
My response:
I understand that. But I felt Jeff Bridges was out of character when he became more interested in showing his physique to advantage to us the viewer instead being in the character of an angst ridden protagonist who was falling deeply in lust ( I meant love) with Rachel Ward.

I see where you're coming from, but it's unfair to Bridges.
I remember during the director's commentary, Hackford praised Bridges for being so agreeable to a part that required a buff physique (his paraphrased words). When they said the part needed muscles, Bridges said, "Sure, get me in a program". And Hackford proceeded to laud the actor for getting in shape.
So the fact that Brogan didn't make a move to cover himself has more to do with direction than Bridges' acting. I don't think "vain" applies here.

My response:
Yeah I think you're right. That wasn't the only bad directing choice made, I thought the movie was about twenty minutes too long. I'll give Jeff Bridges' the benefit of the doubt, he has made too many great movies were acting choices were just fine.

Phil Collins' "Against All Odds" just came up on my Pandora station, and I love that song specifically because of this movie, which I love specifically for the hottest Jeff Bridges role ever. omg, I'm so glad I'm seeing that there are many who agree...for years both the song and movie have been guilty pleasures of mine. Those love scenes with Rachel Ward were pretty smokin' stuff for 1984!!!
