Buckaroo Banzai inspires Christians!

There is an old Methodist church down from my house that has a marquee in it's front lawn which has a new inspirational message written on it every week. Messages such as, "If God is your co-pilot, switch seats", or stuff to that effect. Anyways, a few months ago I noticed the message on the marquee was, "No matter where you go, there you are". I thought this was funny considering most of the church's members were elderly and whoever wrote it probably had no idea where it came from... until I read this week's message, which is, "Character is what you are in the dark". Coincidence?

After reading your post, I was ready to believe there was a Banzai fan in the church. But apparently both quotes have been used before Buckaroo was ever created. And the weird thing is, both quotes are religious.

"So, the cross is always ready and waits for you everywhere. You cannot escape it no matter where you run, for wherever you go you are burdened with yourself. Wherever you go, there you are." —Thomas a Kempis, Imitation of Christ, ca. A.D. 1440

As for the other, Lizardo was quoting Dwight L. Moody:

Interesting. I was trying to confirm or deny if there was a Buckaroo Banzai fan in a local church. Instead, I think we just outed Buckaroo and Emilio Lizardo as god-fearing christians.

...or the writer spent more time in church than he cared to 'fess up to.
