dvd $6.88 at Sam's

I was happy to see the DVD at Sam's the other day and got it. I think I first heard of the film via Wes Anderson who said it inspired the end credits to The Life Aquatic. They really are great credits!

Yeah, but how long ago did you buy it?

About a year or two ago Wal-Mart had the Martin Scorsese box for really cheap. I assumed it was one of those things that had been permenantly marked down and decided to get it later. I have never seen them in WM again. I regret not buying that. Of course, before too long there will be an updated Blu Ray version I'm sure.

At my Sam's the cardboard display where BB was held is still there, as well as several other movies, but all copies of BB are gone. I saw the movie for the first time a week or so before Christmas. The girlfriend got me a copy. Just watched it this weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sam's also had 4 or 5 of the two-disc James Bond movies (the black packaging) for $6.88, but those are gone, too. I was lucky to pick up Thunderball and From Russia with Love (my personal fave). It pays to wander the movie section at Sam's from time to time.

Out of interest what is Sams (clearly some sort of retail outlet) - what is there business model?. Down here in Australia we don't have some of these things yet, luckily or unluckily. We don't have a single Walmart anywhere in the country though I believe they are about to try and move in, Starbucks have largely failed (because there coffee is c.r.a.p) even Krispy Kreme outlets all went belly-up recently.
