Buckaroo Bonzai Redux

In 2009 it will be the 25th anniversary of Buckaroo Bonzai. As Hollywood loves remakes here is my thought toward possible casting for a remake:

Buckaroo Bonzai: Edward Norton
Lord Whorfin/Emilio Lizardo: James Spader
John Bigboote: Philip Seymour Hoffman
New Jersey: John Bon Jovi
Rawhide: Vince Vaughn
Penny Priddy: Elizabeth Banks
Perfect Tommy: John Stamos
Prof. Hikita: Robert Ito or George Takei
Reno Nevada: George Lopez
Pres Widmark: Chris Cooper
John Parker: Lance Reddick
John O'Connor: Edward James Olmos
John Emdall: Allison Janney
Gen Catburd: Dennis Hooper
Sec. of Defense: Richard Jenkins

No way. Half the problem with Hollywood is these lame ass remakes. Buckaroo should NEVER BE REMADE. Seriously

I wouldn't want a sequel, but I wonder if they could do the original film justice by doing another film - which doesn't ignore the first film, but may have a completely new cast.

Would love a sequel, per the banner at the end credits. So disappointed as a youth as I asked for that one and come to find out that there was none.

Yeah, I think I worded my previous post incorrectly. I believe I meant I did not want a "remake" not that I did not want a sequel.

I wouldn't mind a sequel in the style of "Superman Returns" - where it does not discount earlier films (Superman and Superman II) but doesn't really completely sync up with it.

Today's "remakes" are completely unnecessary, considering that many of the films that are remade could easily enough have been part, or at least partially part of the original continuity.

I'd rather see a different adventure with Buckaroo than him fighting John Whorfin.

It's kind of like the idea of remaking "Escape From New York" - completely unnecessary since I'd rather see a different actor in the role do something new then rehash something that's already been done.

I would not mind seeing the original cast.
Seeing them do their walk doing the end credits, makes you just want to follow them.
After all these years I'd follow them down another journey.
Original cast would be amazing.

No, no, no, no, no, no, NOOOOOOOO!

Hear this, Hollyweird...Do NOT remake this movie!

A sequel....now that's different.

Except for Vince Schiaferelli (sp) they're all still around.
