Somebody said that The Life Aquatic is an unofficial remake of Buckaroo Bonzai. Obviously the plot is considerably different with no sci-fi components... but the jack of all trades adventurer concept is in full force, don't you think.

Plus, the ending.

Jeff Goldbloom's character joins the main character's crew in both movies as well.

Its not a remake at all. Its just a nod to buckaroo. Big difference.

Yes. The end credits are definitely a tribute.

The movies basically have nothing to do whatsoever with each other.

Aquatic end credits are a straight up rip off of Banzai.
