Can i watch this before seeing the 2 mini series?

I reckon you'd be okay watching the TV series before the two mini-series. The basic idea is that the aliens came to Earth and tried to conquer us but failed and have come back for a re-match.

However I'd recommend watching both mini-series first simply because of the quality of the production compared to the TV series, and the attention to detail in setting up all the characters.

If you do watch the original mini-series then check out the great writer-director commentary as well.

the tv series picks up literally where The Final Battle (the 2nd mini-series) ended so yeah, you might be a little lost. its a direct continuation. i say just wait til you have both mini-series and watch it in the proper order.

i wouldnt say you'd be confused or lost, its easy to catch up. but there are many little things and situations that are explained by having seen the mini-series first.

Watch the mini-series first...it's the best and only way to know what lead up to the events in the TV show. I'm watching them all now on Netflix so for $9 you can enjoy it from begining to end.
