should Skyfire be angry?

Fire in the sky is my favourite episode but one thing has always puzzeled me.At the end Skyfire crashes into the snow and is buried. The Autobots leave him there and return back to the Ark without trying to dig him up.Then a few episodes later they decide to dig him up not because it was the right thing to do but because they need him to fly them across the world. Skyfire should have been angry and told them to find their own way there.

Fire in the Sky is my favorite as well, such a poignant story. It feels like the writers didn't think Skyfire was coming back when they wrote that episode and so their attempt at a retcon later on was a bit sloppy, lol.

But the way I always tried to rationalize it, it wasn't until a few episodes later that the Autobots figured out that they were able to rescue Skyfire and they were planning to go pick him up anyway before they had to go on the mission.

Or if you noticed that Megatron's master plan involved the same green crystals linked to the Earth's core it might be cause to think that it was a quasi two parter broken up by production and airing dates.

Also as much as I love this episode I noticed a minor error. In Starscreames flashback he had an Earth jet mode instead of his tetra jet Cbertronian mode.

The bigger blunder is that Skyfire could see himself in his own memories and things he wasn't present for

reply

Well that's not so much a blunder as it is a short cut to tell the story in a quicker fashion, lol.

Oh I know it happens in just about every dream sequence flashback etc in TV history.

Yeah seriously, lol.

Another thing that bothered me slightly. At one point Skyfire naively tells the humans "I'll prove to you we are not evil. I'll take you to Megatron, our leader!" But wait, this is the same Megatron who rather rudely pushed Starscream away when Skyfire first regain consciousness. And a couple scenes later Starscream was gleefully telling Skyfire "One day I, not Megatron, will lead us!." If your best friend is telling you Megatron needs to be overthrown, perhaps that's an indication that he isn't such a nice guy? Lol

I bet they figured the young audience wouldn't recognize his Cybertron mode (since it was only in the pilot for like a minute, lol).

Actually we never saw Starscream as a tetra jet. Only Skywarp, Thundercracker and the three rain makers. So who knows maybe so maybe Cybertron had an F-15 lying around like 5 million years ago.

Yeah we could come up with a sort of ancient aliens theory here, hehe.

Also how did Starscream and Skyfire fly all the way to Earth from Cybertron and then back again in Starcreams case?

So it's treason then!

reply

Well I can see Skyfire doing it; he's a big shuttle craft. Perhaps Starscream spent some of the trip to Earth as a passenger. As far as the trip back, I always figured a team had to come get Starscream. If he searched half the globe for Skyfire he would have eventually run out of power.

5 million years ago or so Earth might have been slightly closer to Cybertron or maybe Cybertronian F-15s are slightly more fuel effcient. Starscream flew to Cybertron again in the second part of the Combaticons introduction.

I actually have been working on a small essay regarding Fire in the Sky. Just wanted to share it here, sorry for the shameless plug, hehe:
